How to prepare to add a TC to your team

So you’ve watched all my videos and realized you are ready to bring on a TC into your business - congrats! Next step should just be to reach out to a TC and send them your newly executed contract - right?! Hold on just a second my friend… there are a few things you need to do first to set both you and your future TC up for success.

While every experienced TC should have a basic checklist they follow, you as an agent probably have some things you like done a certain way, and your brokerage likely has some requirements as well. While you rack your brain for what is important to you when handling a transaction, I’ll list some easier items to gather below:

  • List of systems used by yourself and your brokerage

  • Any brokerage requirements or checklists for compliance

  • Any login information the TC will need to have access to

  • Any state or local requirements and documents

I am also going to take a moment and HIGHLY suggest you do an onboarding call with your new TC. They will likely ask you some questions you hadn’t even thought of. This is also a great time to review expectations on both sides and answer any questions you may have. By taking 30 minutes of your time upfront to onboard, you’ll get your very first transaction off to a smoother start!

Here are some things to think about before your call:

  • Is there anything specific I like done in a transaction that other agents might not do?

  • What is my main reason for hiring the TC?

  • How much communication would I like to have with the TC throughout the transaction?/Do I want the TC to communicate directly with my clients?

  • What questions do I have about the TC’s role/their process?

If you are not urgently needing to hire a TC, I would also suggest potentially taking a month, (Or the course of one of your existing transactions) and writing down everything you do throughout the transaction. After closing, go back and highlight the items that were pain points or that frustrated you. During your initial call, see if these are things your TC can take off your plate or help streamline!

The clearer you are with the TC upfront, the less time you will waste along the way making changes to the process. Happy TC’ing!
